Scriptures and Thoughts from ZOE Staff member during beginning of year Staff Fast….

Straight Paths

Psalm 23 – “He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name sake.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,  And lean not on your own understanding;  In all your ways acknowledge Him, And  He will make your paths straight.”

Matthew 3:3 – …”A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, Make straight paths for Him.’ “

Philippians 4:6-7 – “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Mount Moriah
Genesis 22:1-18

It would have been easy for Abraham to love Isaac more than God.  God called Abraham to lay Isaac on the alter, only to be picked up again; to test Abraham’s love for  Him.  I can envision the brokenness of Abraham’s heart as he laid Isaac there, his precious son.  But God had something greater in mind; perhaps to bring Abraham back to his first love.   I can remember having made ZOE my first love.  My first reaction to ZOE was wholeheartedly identifying myself in it.  So taken in and awestruck by the impact it had on my life, letting it become my identity and placing it first in my walk with the Lord.  I was looking to the Lord’s anointed tool rather than to the Lord alone.

Hearing Gods Voice In Christ: Gifts of the Spirit – Vocal Gifts

By , 14 January 2013

When the Holy Spirit moves upon us with His vocal gifts we can make evident God’s specific word for our time and place.

How to Hear God’s Voice—In Christ – Facilitator Manual, Main Principle for Lesson 12

We can associate the vocal gifts with the mouth. With the vocal gifts the Holy Spirit moves upon you, giving you something to speak out.

Vocal Gifts Include:

Prophecy, The Gift of Tongues, Interpretation of Tongues

Gift of Prophecy:

“The gift of prophecy is speaking under the direct supernatural influence of the Holy Spirit. It is becoming God’s mouthpiece, to verbalize His words as the Spirit directs. The word ‘prophecy’ used in 1 Corinthians 12:10 is the Greek word ‘propheteia,’ and means ‘speaking forth the mind and counsel of God.’ It is inseparable in its New Testament usage with the concept of direct inspiration of the Spirit.”
